Make inch and metric requirements unambiguous
Identify the controlling unit system on the drawing. If you include both inches and millimetres, state which dimensions govern acceptance. Supply the drawing revision with the CAD model and identify the controlling document if the two differ. Mark assembly-critical dimensions, datum references, surface finish and edge-break requirements. Do not assume a converted dimension carries the same tolerance.
Specify threads and material without silent substitutions
For screws, inserts, shafts and threaded fittings, state the thread designation, pitch or threads per inch, class, depth and inspection method. Name the exact material grade, condition and applicable specification revision. If an alternative material or process is acceptable, request a separate proposal for approval rather than allowing an unstated substitution.
Agree on inspection before comparing prices
List the critical dimensions to report, sample quantities, first-article approval steps and any material or finishing documents needed. Identify lot marking, packaging and traceability requirements in the RFQ. A dimensional inspection report, material document and product-specific certification are different deliverables. Ask Zoe to confirm the scope for your drawing; do not assume industry-specific approvals from a general quality-system certificate.
Separate part price from delivery assumptions
Include the receiving company, city, state and ZIP code, sample quantity, repeat-order quantity and requested arrival date. Ask the quotation to identify the currency, freight scope, delivery term, named destination and responsibility for import arrangements. Do not interpret a requested arrival date as a promised lead time, or a unit price as an all-inclusive landed price. Your appointed logistics adviser should confirm destination-specific import requirements.
Use one controlled RFQ package
Attach the same revision of each file and put open questions in the requirements field. For example: part number and revision; material; units; thread details; sample and production quantities; critical dimensions; finish; report needs; packaging; delivery ZIP code. CKJM reviews prototypes and repeat production by project. No universal minimum quantity, tolerance or response deadline is promised on this page.
